Open call for projects for ‘Vanessa Redgrave Award for PriFest’

PriFest calls all regional filmmakers to apply with projects at Prishtina Film FORUM 2015. Eligible are all 4F projects (First Feature Fiction Film) of the director from the following countries: Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, Serbia and as of this year also Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia. The team (producer / director) of selected projects will have the opportunity to attend a free of charge two-day pitching training conducted by German pitching experts and facilitated by PriFORUM. After this process, the selected projects will be presented by director and producer in the format of the pitch competing for the Best Pitch award in front of the International Jury and accredited festival guests. Projects can apply with treatment if they don’t have a finished script. Best Pitch will be awarded as ‘Vanessa Redgrave Award for PriFest’ including the financial award of 1,000 euros. World famous actress and Oscar winner Vanessa Redgrave is an honorary president of PriFest, and since last year PriFest has established an award honoured by her name. Interested filmmakers can apply online and the deadline for the application is 10.03.2015. Best Pitch competition will be held on the dates 25-26 April 2015 during PriFORUM among other activities such as debates, conferences, workshops and the pitch training. Prishtina Film FORUM is an industry platform of PriFest and is a meeting point of regional filmmakers and European film experts. 7th edition of PriFest is scheduled on 24 April – 01 May 2015. Prishtina International Film Festival 6th Edition Awards

European Competition - The Golden Goddess for Best Film went to “The Selfish Giant”. A contemporary fable about 13 year old Arbor and his best friend Swifty, directed by Clio Barnard (UK). - The Golden Goddess Special Jury Prize went to “Love Me”. A great romantic movie, directed by Maryna Er Gorbach and Mehmet Bahadir Er (Ukraine/Turkey). - The Golden Goddess Students’ Independent Jury Prize went to “The Selfish Giant”.   Honey and Blood Competition (Balkan Competition). - The Red Goddess for Best Balkan Film went to “The Disobedient”. Directed by Mina Djukic (Serbia), perfectly captures the rush of youthful rebellion and the euphoria of finding a kindred spirit. - The Golden Goddess for Best Balkan Director went to Nevio Marasovic (Croatia). Director of “Vis a vis”, a film that narrates the personal troubles of a director and actor while writing an script. - The Golden Goddess for Best Balkan Actor went to Nik Xhelilaj for his role as principal actor in the movie “Crossroads”, directed by Faysal Soysal (Turkey). - The Golden Goddess for Best Balkan Actress went to Hana Selimovic for her role as principal actress in the movie “The Disobedient” (Serbia). - The Media Jury Prize, awarded by Dritan Hoxha Foundation, went to “Chefurs Raus”, directed by Goran Vojnovic (Slovenia).   Middle Length Competition - The Silver Goddess for Best Middle Length film went to “Sunny”, directed by Barbara Ott (Germany). A film about the dreams, fears and hopes of Hajo, a brand-new dad of 19 years old. - The Special Jury Mention for Cinematography went to Latif Hasolli (Director of Photography) in the film “One of them”, directed by Illirjan Himaj. - The Special Jury Mention for script went to the film “By Chance”, directed by Tanja Golic, a poignant tribute to the architecture of human relationships.   Audience Award - The Audience Award went to “Philomena”, by Stephen Frears (UK).   PriForum - Vanessa Redgrave Best Pitch Award to project “An unforgettable journey…” by Kushtrim Bekteshi from Macedonia.

The Focus India at PriFest, showcasing five independent films from Kerala, Assam, Maharashtra, the Indo-Pakistani border and Gujarat, is a fascinating discovery journey into the cultural, social, linguistic, religious and ethnic diversity of the Indian sub continent. The program includes four films that have received the prestigious FIPRESCI award, and also pays tribute to the great Indian actress, social activist and filmmaker Nandita Das. Barbara Lorey de Lacharriere in an independent curator and film critic in charge of FIPRESCI award promotion who has been selecting the movies specially for the Focus India at PriFest. We want to give a big thanks to Barbara for her fantastic job selecting the movies for the Prishtina International Film Festival.
