“Slight changes have happened with the change of season, from autumn festival to a spring festival, for us namely the festival has become more focused and will be promoting much more the European and Balkan cinematography in the competition. Not leaving behind the rest of the world for the films in categories of Medium-length Competition program, Special Screening, Focus in specific country or cinematography and the Let it Be Program. It hasn’t been easy with the changes of dates for us as we had only 7 months to prepare everything, and I would like to call this edition jokingly a “premature baby”. But, on the other hand I must say that fact we had less time to prepare, got us more focused and mobilised. I am very proud of this edition, it looks really promising.” – said Vjosa Berisha, co-founder and Director of PriFest.
The European competition will bring 10 films from Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Russia, Israel, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Italy.
The Balkan competition, tucked under the beautiful name of Honey and Blood Cinema brings films from Macedonia, Turkey, Slovenia, Croatia, Greece, Bosnia, Serbia and Rumania.
Medium-length competition, a unique in the region, will show films from Albania, Poland, Germany, France, Slovakia, Kosovo, etc. while the documentaries come from Iran, Germany, USA, Great Britain etc.
Focus: India program will bring 5 unique art house films from this extraordinary country and film industry, a great selection made in cooperation with FIPRESCI – The International Federation of Film Critics.
An Oscar winner Eva Orner, British director Stephen Frears twice an Oscar nominee and winner of many awards, Bosnian director Jasmila Zbanic - a Berlinale Golden Bear winner, Lars Von Trier – world famous and most controversial director from Denmark, Paolo Sorrentino - winner of numerous awards and Jean-Marc Valle with his three Oscars film are some of the important names whose films will be shown in PriFest this year.
PriFest will soon announce the special guests and more information about events, activities, juries, workshops and the regional industry events gathered under the name of PriFORUM.
The 2nd of May will mark the solemn celebration of Award ceremony night. The night that will close another edition of PriFest, the 6th one.
More beautiful friendships expected to begin in Prishtina. Be there.
Friendship. Forever. PriFest.
