International juries announced for all categories of the 6-th edition of Prishtina International Film Festival - PriFest.
The jury for European Film Competition program consists of: Kees Kassander, a producer from Holland, the winner of numerous international awards including the jury award in Cannes and BAFTA. In his remarkable career, he was a producer of more than 50 feature films.
Cedomir Kolar, a producer from France, born in Croatia, nominated and winner of Oscar Award. His last movie ‘An Episode in the life of an Iron Picker’ of Danis Tanovic won 2 awards in Berlinale 2013.
Velibor Topic, actor born in Bosnia, lives and works in Great Britain. He acted in various theatrical plays and movies. He is known for his roles in Ridley Scott’s ‘Robin Hood’, Guy Ritchie’s ‘Snatch’ and Ridley Scott’s ‘Kingdom of Heaven’. In PriFest’s first edition he won the award for the best actor.
The jury for Balkan Film Competition program – called “Honey and Blood Cinema” consists of: Mark Ravenhill, British playwright, one of the greatest contemporary European writers. His plays are translated and staged all over the world.
Kirsten Schaffer, executive director of OutFest festival in Los Angeles USA. Lately, she was jury member of Teddy in Berlinale and Jury president of Iris Film Prize.
Karin Angela Schyle, from Germany, ex manager of goEast festival in Wiesbaden, Germany. She is now the head of organization and administration of film prize for Robert Bosch Stiftung.
Whereas the Jury of Middle Length Competition program consists of: Anis Lassoued, director from Tunisia, the winner of numerous international awards and founder and artistic director of Maghrebian Film Festival in Nabeul. Anis was the winner of Silver Goddess in the previous edition of PriFest. Olena Yershova, is a director and producer from Ukraine, her movies have been shown and won awards in festivals such as Abu Dhabi, Sofia and Vilnus. Participated in Producers Network in Cannes 2009-2012. Vladimir Blazevski, director from Macedonia, his last movie ‘Punk’s not dead’ won an award at Karlovy Vary festival and more than 10 awards on other international festivals, including PriFest.
Traditionally, PriFest has also Media Jury, consisting of journalists from various media in Kosovo and Albania. However, this year Media Jury became international too. So, members of the Media are: Kushtrim Sadiku of Klan Kosova President of the jury, Oana Stupariu, a journalist from Romania and editor for Foreign policits of ‘Telegraf’ newspaper in Constanta. Mirjana Radovanovic from Radio Television of Kosovo, Berna Caka from Radio Urban FM and Nora Fejza from Radio Dukagjini. The award selected by this jury, as for the past three years is proudly given by the festival partner ‘Dritan Hoxha Foundation’ from Albania.
This year PriFest has a novelty regarding the juries. For the first time, films are going to be evaluated also from the Students’ Independent Jury, which will give an award for the best film in European category. And the jury members are: Arben Marevci, student of dramaturgy in the Faculty of Arts in University of Prishtina, More Raça, student of film directing in the Faculty of Arts, Donika Cami, student at American University in Kosovo, Danela Markaj, astudent of acting in the Faculty of Arts and Engjëll Beqiri, student in Victory College.
On this occasion, the PriFest director Mrs. Vjosa Berisha stated: ‘We are proud for this composition of juries, and apart from coming from all over the world, they are ‘heavy weight’ in terms of their careers f filled with prestigious film awards. Moreover, I am happy that it will not be easy for them to decide, because the films at this year programs promises are really good and competitive. I am particularly glad that Kosovar students, too, will have the opportunity to participate in the decision-making, by being members of Independent Student’ jury.
The 6th edition of Prishtina International Film Festival is set to open on 25th of April and will last until 2nd of May. Event happens every year in Kosovo’s capital Prishtina.
