Prishtina International Film Festival announces part of its programme lineup for this year’s edition: European Competition and PriDocs
During the week of 22-29 April, some 80 films will be screened in various programmes in competition and noncompetition. All of them premieres in Kosovo and a number of them regional, European, International premieres including two that will be World Premieres within this festival.
PriDocs Lineup 2016:
Eleven documentary films in total, 2 world premieres, one European premiere and one regional premiere is the setting of this year’s PriDocs. The documentary programme of PriFest this year will bring all the colours of documentary section coming from places like Estonia, Croatia, Rumania, Turkey, and all the way to Palestine and USA.
European Competition Lineup 2016:
European competition programme this year comes with films that not only grabbed attention of the film industry world and the film critics, but also brought a new style and wave in film making. Three regional premieres out of 7 films in this category along with Mediterranea and other premieres will compete in front of international jury to win the Golden Goddess for the Best European Film. Intriguing, daring, happy, melancholic, traditional and sexy. The selection in this category will bring to the audience of PriFest the best taste of the latest entries of European cinema.

EUROPEAN FILM COMPETITION
UNITED STATES OF LOVE – Tomasz Wasilewski

A documentary film about the arts festival Vanessa Redgrave, organized over a three-day period: festival of dance, music and theater. With some illustrious names to come to war-ravaged Pristina, the Kosovo capital, to perform along with Albanian artists for a culture-starved population. Philip Glass, Patricia Kaas, Lulu, Big Country, Dancers of the Martha Graham company, Italian rock star Andrea Mingardi, Bruce Cockburn and Tribe of One and a miners' choir from Cape Breton called Men of the Deeps are just some participants. Including many of the local artists and singers.
PATHS – Mevlan Shanaj / Albania / 1996/2015
Filming of the documentary were suspended in March 1997 due to the declaration of state of emergency in Albania. However, this project comes completed 18 years later. Shanaj Mevlan brings " Rrugët 2 " as a project that could not bring in a decade ago. Conceived as a continuation of that journey in the Albanian capital, filmmaker and teacher at the same time through this documentary recounts the truth and wounds we see every day in the streets of Tirana. The first part of the film-documentary that was carried out in 1996 and was never fully presented to the public, comes with the second take 18 years later with the premiere in February 2016 in Tirana.

How do the Palestinian and Israeli (Arab and Jewish) education systems teach the history of their nations? The film follows several Israeli and Palestinian teachers over one academic year. Through observing their exchanges and confrontations with students, debates with the ministries curriculum and its restrictions, the viewers obtain an intimate glimpse into the profound and long lasting effect that the Israeli/Palestinian conflict transmits onto the next generation.
MAKING OF THINKING OF YOU – Fitim Shala / Kosovo 2015
The documentary is about the making of Thinking of You, an art installation by Alketa Xhafa Mripa, which consisted in collecting more than five thousand dresses across Kosovo and hanging them on clotheslines in the football stadium of Prishtina in honor of survivors of wartime sexual violence.
